Hello Wonder Women,
How are you saving the world today? Confused? Wonder Women and saving the world? Okay, I have not watched the Wonder Woman or any other DC or Marvel movies before writing the post. Then why I am addressing you all as a superwoman all of a sudden? Today's not International Women's Day but who needs that actually. I don't because I believe that every day is worth celebrating womanhood and appreciate all the other women around. Just because we do not have powers and we can't fly, it does not mean that we are any less than superheroes. We all have seen how hard our mothers work 24*7 without sweating it out and believe it or not someday we all are going to take that position and be the best of ourselves. So cheers to womanhood. Today, I am going to share you the story of my life's wonder woman, a story of how Binge on Basics even came into existence and how it is on toes every time. It all started around a year back, when I was just figuring out how to start my blog and how to put my thoughts in front of the entire world. So I am no techie, and even after being from a science background I am proud to say that I hate anything that's either Physics or Maths. So developing a website on my own was off the list. I could not afford even asking another techie to do this for me. The only option I had left was asking my nerdy sister who loves everything that I hate. Yes, she is a techie who sometimes freaks me out with all the algorithms and crazy science discussions. But I could not gather enough courage to ask her out because she was already working 9 to 5, travelling 5 hrs a day via metro (Noida <-> Gurgaon). Her day started with the rising Sun at 5 AM and then she would be back home at around 8 PM. Then we used to hit the gym and reached home by 10 PM. Oh man! I know I could not really have done that ever. But she being SHE, carried this routine effortlessly. While I was helplessly trying to figure it out all alone, she came up to me one day and asked me if she can help me with building a website for me. I was super happy but I knew that she will not be able to do it and gonna be sad about it later on (Topper Problem 01 - Deadlines can never be missed). Even though I knew that with her jam-packed schedule, she can't do it, I gave it a go-ahead (My inner me convinced me. My inner me is evil). To my surprise rather shock, she completed the code in 4 months and Binge on Basics was born just a week after. For me this is no less than a miracle and she made it happen. Ever since 30th July 2018, there is no stopping and yes she is still handling everything where science comes in play (Topper Problem 02 - Abandonment Issues). Well she is a Wonder Woman to me and to my family. She still works 9 to 5, takes care of every member's needs, handles my blog, spoils me 24*7 and does all of this without a sweat. Today's post is dedicated to my geeky and nerdy sister, Senjuti Mahapatra (drums in the background).
Whatever I do for her, I never feel enough. But all I can do is just keep trying. And honestly, I thank BonOrganik to give me this great idea to give her something that she truly is. So I got myself and my sister these Super Siblings T-shirts from BonOrganik which says "We Are All Wonder Women". Now that's how I roll it. This time, however, I let her decide how she wants to style her look (remember the last time; I styled her in my Friends of Fashion Post) and she did a fab job indeed. But before I can go on and talk about the styling, let’s just know a little bit about the brand BonOrganik.
BonOrganik started back in 2012 as a twinning apparels brand. Their whole mission is to make the bonds of family stronger and get them a little bit closer by wearing something similar. They have apparels for Father and Son, Mother and Daughter, Couples, Siblings, Best Friends. And the thing that makes them stand out from the rest is that BonOrganik is not just a t-shirt brand. They have ethnic wear, tees customized for festival season, family outfits, baby outfits etc. They also have an option for customizing the tees. Next time you plan for a family outing or just a casual date, wear something similar that resembles your bond. This is all that BonOrganik strives for. Hopping back to the post, it’s too hot in here but thanks to the universe of fashion that never takes a bow. Be it any weather, fashion finds its own way to make some wonderful styles. One such style is the pop of summer colors. I am totally head over heels in love with this idea of basic dressing with a hint of pop colors. And when we are on it, what’s better than yellow? The key here is to match the accessories while keeping the outfit Simple and on point. I put together the look by pairing this graphic printed t-shirt with a pair of jeans which is ripped on the edges. To add on to the oomph factor, I went ahead with yellow mules and sunglasses. The outfit spoke of summer and blended well with the weather. Now, I let my sister decide how she wanted to style her outfit. She went for a button down skirt with embroidered details which in my opinion is perfect for the weather and the occasion. She completed the look with nude colored strappy heels and a brown statement belt and there we were, same-same yet so different. She is wrapped up in the fanciest outfit while me being my casual self. We have been like this forever. Always liked the same food, hated the same relatives, crushed on the same celeb but when it comes to dressing we both bring our own flavors to the table. While everyone thinks we are twins and there’s no way we would choose different paths, I would like to tell you all that she is 6 years older than me and we are very different from each other and we both embrace each other’s strengths, flaws, and whatnot (yeah, I did that purposely to make it rhyme, I am genius :P).
