Most of us fantasize about having a luxury vacation now and then. And you cannot blame us because every day, we look up to our favorite celebrities and bloggers enjoying their vacations like a pro. All we need is a glimpse of pictures with people hitting the lavish must-see vacation spots and we are tempted to take a vacation. Sadly, we cannot afford to travel like them because we neither have the luxury of a flexible schedule nor copious amounts of cash. We are left with two choices here, either we break the bank or we break into the hard reality. In both these cases, destiny wins and we lose. High-end resorts in exotic destinations almost seem like a dream that is far away from the reality we live in. We keep on ponying money by cutting out from our daily expenses just to have that one luxurious and upscale vacation. Now as much as we love the idea of this fancy trip, living a very bourgeoisie life for the rest of the calendar days is no chill. Think of it as sacrificing all the countless little happy moments for one big chunk of happiness. It doesn’t seem fair to me at all. Even though it seems pretty impossible to get the best of both worlds if you strategize right, you can have that ideal luxury vacation without spending an arm and a leg. The definition of luxury vacation differs from one person to another. For some, it is all about spending a fun-filled weekend with family in a private villa while for others it may be as good witnessing sunsets or gazing at the stars in an exotic location. For me, it will be a place where the blue skies meet the crashing waves of a river. I did some digging in the oh-so-good internet and stumbled upon the unbeatable idea of a luxury vacation at Amatra by the Ganges, Haridwar.
Haridwar would probably never cross our minds when we think of an exotic vacation spot. This is probably beyond belief for some travel junkies right now. Wait until you catch a glimpse of the pictures from the location. Amatra by the Ganges is that one resort which turned my daydream into a reality. This luxury resort is situated on the bank of the holy and glorious river Ganges, Haridwar. As soon as I discovered that the resort provides a breathtaking and surreal view of the holy river, I was convinced to mark this resort on my luxury vacation list. Don’t let yourselves get fooled by the notion that a resort can’t be opulent if it is drenched in cultural wealth. The cultural significance only adds to the grandeur of this resort even more. Not only is it an incredible sight but you can go for a spiritual retreat or make timeless memories by taking your wedding vows in here. This resort is aptly the one-stop-shop for family vacations, couple getaways, destination weddings, and spiritual haven. Dive into this virtual tour and get a taste of the #AmatraExperience with me.
Located in close proximity to New Delhi, this resort makes it quite an attractive spot. You do not need to re-organize your calendar for a quick getaway to Amatra by the Ganges. All you need is a weekend to get started on your ultimate luxury getaway. You can reach the resort by a thrilling road trip of 5 hours or a train journey. For people, who want to kick it up a notch, I would say that the sky is the limit. Yes, you heard it right! Amatra by the Ganges has a huge helipad available at your service. Choose your way of transfer as per your viability and capital. No matter your choice of travel, you will be received warmly by the very modest staff of Amatra by the Ganges.
Rooms and Services
There are a variety of options to choose from when it comes to spending your vacay time the way you want. If you are on a family vacation, then go for the 3BR private villa. If you are a stargazer, then go for rooms with a terrace and I promise you will love watching all the twinkling stars in the sky. For a person who wants to live close by nature, get yourself a room with a lawn. Every villa has an adjoining living room to sit by and relax which is a bonus for family or friendly get-togethers. Each and every room is spacious, luxurious and has very pleasing interiors. The beds are very plushy and you could just snug in there all day. The rooms are carefully stocked with all the necessary items like AC, TV, fridge, coffee maker, cupboard, etc. The bathrooms are clean, hygienic and sanitary. All the toiletries are in place and you do not have to carry them along. They also provide a hairdryer: BONUS! Room service is available at all times and their service is quick as a flash.
Good services will come at a good price. You might think that. Trust me, a few years back I would have thought the same. It is more like, good places will always provide good services and not the other way round. To make the most out of your booking, make sure you check the prices at their own website and book it from there. Guaranteed low prices are available for direct bookings with early check in option (subject to availability), 20% off on spa therapies, 15% discount on all spends and even a free upgrade for the lucky ones. Currently they are running a monsoon offer where you pay for 2 nights and get a stay of 3 nights. Their classic room start with prices as low as Rs. 5525.
Pro Tip: Go for rooms with riverside view to make your stay look highly extravagant.
Meals, drinks, and nibbles
Being a Bong makes my love for food indigenous. Whenever I visit any resort, I check out their food reviews first. Being in a resort business, it is important to prepare meals with the utmost care. If the reviews are not up to the mark, it is a big turn off. Thankfully, Amatra by the Ganges has an extensive menu to choose from. They also have a team of topmost chefs of the area. They serve multi-cuisine food and be assured that every bite is savoring. I had tried a variety of cuisines from their menu and none of the dishes disappointed me. My favorite is the American breakfast which was a delight to have. They want all of their guests to make the most out of their stay and for this reason, they let the guests decide if they want in-room dining or a lavish meal at their fine dining restaurant. They also happen to have a drink by the pool service which makes it even better. Rooms are also hoarded with cookies, chips, chocolates and soft drinks to help you out through midnight hunger.
Going for a swimming session
The swimming pool at Amatra by the Ganges feels almost like an infinity pool with a majestic view of the Ganges in front. Taking a dip in the pool during sunset is yet another captivating experience that will remain an indelible impression. Drinking wine by the pool and relaxing by the poolside must not be missed. In the evenings, they also play soulful music near the pool which not only soothes your body but the mind too.
Enjoy the riverside view
One of the most compelling reasons to visit this resort is the pristine riverside view. Not only it is a treat for your sore eyes, but it is a magical encounter that lets you escape the daily run-of-the-mill. The fresh breeze, the burbling of the Ganges, the melody of the chirping birds and the ephemeral colors of the fading dusk together feel like a happy chapter from a fairy tale. Drenching your soul with this beauty while enjoying the company of your loved ones is a richness that very few fortunate people in the world can afford.
Enjoy your time in a jacuzzi
If you think this was all then you were mistaken. I know right jacuzzi is not a big deal. But if I tell you that few rooms have their private jacuzzis, will that enthrall you? No more waiting for your turn to get some hydro-therapy goodness. You can have it by selecting a room with the facility. Soothe your overworked muscles and get some drinks while you do it and live your best life. I can’t think of a better way to unwind all the accumulated stress than this.
Indulge in recreational activities
If you are or were a sports person (before you settled for a day job), then why not unleash the player in you. Challenge your family members or friends to a game of table tennis, badminton, cricket, billiards or even board games. The options are endless here. They even have archery as a recreational activity. For the love of the gaming industry, they even have PlayStation on the house. Anyone up for Mortal Combat? This was all fun for adolescents and adults, what about infants? You leave the stress at bay and let your child play in the specially curated playroom for kids at the Amatra by the Ganges. A win for all!
Take a walk and wallow in the lap of nature
Too lazy to do something. Why not take a walk around the property and get more connected to nature. Walk along the riverside or the little plants of brinjal, chilly or other herbs planted at the property itself. There are so many lush green spots that are naturally so beautiful that you could not resist yourself capturing the moments. If you are a social media junkie, then you will find a zillion places to click enviable pictures inside the property. Walk, halt, click, repeat!
Party at the bar
If a celebration calls you for this vacation, make sure to bring your cocktail dress. They have an indoor bar with skilled bartenders who will serve you with the freshest libations. They have local, international and seasonal flavors as well. Go for a drink or two, groove a little and live in the moment. Additionally, when you book directly from their website, you get a free nightly cocktail either at the bar or by the pool. One of the many luxurious services that you can get without paying an extra penny.
Rejuvenate and recoup at the Hibiscus spa
Finally, after a long weekend getaway, all you would want is to take away happy memories and not body pain. Too much play and fun can definitely make your muscles sore. But nobody wants to go back home all tired and exhausted. To be honest, vacations at time does take a toll on your physical health. Only because you set aside your ponderous routine life to do something that you have not done in ages. Playing all day and laughing hard are now one of the few things that your body is not accustomed to. So make sure you try their spa services at the Hibiscus Spa. Rejuvenate and recoup your mind, body, and soul with their huge range of spa services including full body massage, foot massage, head massage, facial scrubs and much more. They also offer couple spa which is an added advantage. All in all, leave Amatra by the Ganges with a smile and not a droopy face.
Plan your destination wedding here
A resort with the glorious view of the Ganges is nothing less than a picture perfect spot for your wedding. They have ample space in front of the riverbank to plan out a wedding as grand as it gets. The magnificence of this resort is enough to make your wedding look as dreamy as in fairytales. The highly trained staff is fully equipped to plan and execute the biggest day in your life with much pomp and show. Needless to say, the wedding will definitely be an extravagant affair that will certainly make you enviable among the masses.
Meet the politest staff
Whenever we visit any place, the only thing that matters the most other than food is the hospitality you receive. If the people are not welcoming, you will not feel contented even after spending a fortune. Thankfully, I have met one of the politest team at Amatra by the Ganges, who looked after every need of us throughout the stay. Needless to say, they deserve extra recognition for their remarkable efforts in making our stay an enjoyable and pleasant experience. Big thanks to Mr. Gaurav Taneja (General Manager) and his team who welcomed and hosted us very warmly.
At the end of our stay, I felt extremely relaxed, de-stressed and rejuvenated. I wish I could just fill up my eyes with the beauty of that place forever. Nature is beautiful in all its forms and the resorts that are embracing nature in its truest forms will always have a special place in my heart. When you visit Amatra by the Ganges, make sure you live in every moment and do not rush it out. Nature never hurries, it is always on time. Ensure that you are ready to seize the moment and live the #AmatraExperience until it lasts.
Until next time,
