Hello boss ladies,
We have entered the final quarter of the year and to be very honest, this year passed in a blink. It was just last year when I shifted into a new house around Diwali, and it feels like yesterday. Time flies fast and when you are in the final year of your college, it seems like you are a speedster speeding your way to be officially marked as an adult. This frightens me a lot and I cannot stop thinking about the future and what it holds for me. As another day passes by, I get more pushed to the reality and all of a sudden, I have to understand responsibilities. Some people just hope to be an adult who is independent, responsible and can make life-changing decisions themselves. I, on the other hand, freak out when I hear the world adult. I mean being independent and responsible is one thing but just look at all the adults around you. They are just loaded with responsibilities and they don’t get to have a thing, called life, even if they yearn for it. All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy and all responsibilities and no fun makes an adult boring. With adulthood, you don’t find happiness in small things and rather wait out for something bigger to happen. And when that big happens, it does not give you the happiness you once deserved. Take my sister, for example, she has bought her own house, a car and now all she takes about bills and how to get the cash flowing non-stop. For her festivals are no fun and she simply wants to stay home all day, every day and binge watch sci-fi movies. Throughout the year, when she does not show up on birthdays and anniversaries, I don’t complain. But on festival days, I simply cannot digest it out. There is, however, one thing that pisses me off more than being least interested in festivals is her utterly depressing gifting ideas.
With the advancement of age and shortage of time, we tend to look out for easier gifting options. I mean, you would not want to go to a shopping mall and then spend hours rushing through each store for the perfect gift. So, instead what you do? You get gift cards from online websites and gift them. Well, gifts are supposed to mean something. Where digital media has become the future, somewhere the essence of gifts and the smile that they bring on our face has lost. Now, do you want to be an adult?
It is not that I despise digital media. I am writing this blog and you are reading it, it’s because of digital media. So, I don’t hate it. I hate the fact that we now do not value relationships and we do not want to put any efforts into making our friends and family special. So, this post is dedicated to all the adults to remind them that there is so much more than E-gift cards. And I take this opportunity to show you how to choose a thoughtful gift for your loved ones this festive season. Let’s start with one of the easiest gifting options, i.e. a perfume. So, let us admit this in good faith, whenever we are short of gift ideas, we start looking through fragrances. And trust me you were choosing it wrong all your life. But today, I will tell you how to choose the right fragrance in a few simple steps. After a careful consideration, I have found the right fragrance for me, Tender Intense, Couture Edition from All Good Scents. Over these years, I have been gifted with so many varieties of perfume, that I barely used. And to be honest, I never want to gift someone else a thing that will stay at the back of their closet forever. I thought of gifting myself a perfume, after carefully researching on it. Let’s just quickly go through these steps and perhaps by the end of the blog, you would know how to find and gift the right fragrance this festive season.
Step 1: Know the wearer’s go-to fragrance choices
The first step of gifting is not to gift what you think is right for you, rather gift something that is right for the person you are gifting it to. Just try to figure out the wearer’s fragrance when she is around you. Try to understand the fragrance which is on high rotation. Is it powerful, subtle or fresh? Another idea is to hit a casual conversation with the person about how you like the fragrance she is wearing and then getting an idea of it. This will take you one step closer to your goal. If you are not sure, what kind of fragrance does the wearer like then go ahead with fresh scents. One can never go wrong with fresh fragrances. It is the safest bet, I tell you.
Taking myself as an example, I am not a person who will go too much floral or too much strong. I want something that is in between. It should be both soft and strong at the same time. When I came across Tender Intense, I knew that it is something that I would want to go with (Keep reading and you will know why). Tender Intense, Couture Edition is a collaboration between All Good Scents and designer Payal Singhal, who is known for her contemporary Indian clothing. The fragrance is delicate, graceful, sensual and powerful at the same time. Because of its floral musky fragrance, it is also called as the happy fragrance. I guess a scent that makes the olfactive journey of a person a happier one, is the one you should look out for.
Step 2: Consider the weather
The weather must be taken into consideration while choosing the fragrances. Now, you must be thinking that this is too much. I mean why would someone consider weather at all. As you eat food depending on the weather and wear clothes that are in line with the weather, same goes for fragrance. Now consider a summer morning, what would you want to smell like? Fresh, zesty, rejuvenated. In this case, you should go for light floral (lily of the valley, peony, freesia), something zestier (bergamot, citrus) or fruity fragrances. These help you feel light, fresh and upbeat. For Winters, take orientals, ambers, gourmand and woody fragrances.
Since I ordered Tender Intense in monsoons. So, I had to look out for fresh floral musky fragrances, like vetiver, musk, rose, and jasmine. And then, I checked out the notes for Tender Intense and I was so glad to tick another item from choosing my right scent list. So, the top notes include Fruity – Raspberry, Freesia & Moroccan Orange Blossoms, the heart notes include Jasmine Sambac, Turkish Rose & Patchouli, and the base notes include Musk, Vetiver & Honey. All set for monsoons right.
Step 3: Consider the personality traits
Personalities have an important role to play while choosing the right fragrance. Personal olfactive tendencies are inclined towards her personal traits. If a girl is a girly-girl, she would like to go for fruity, delicate and floral fragrances. On the other hand, a bold and strong girl will look out for more powerful, sensual and intense fragrances. Remember, fragrances must resonate with the personality type. 2
Now comes the part where I will be telling you why Tender Intense became one of my favorite fragrances.
Payal Singhal and Rajiv Sheth (The nose and creative director of All Good Scents) came together to create a fragrance that resonates feminine and free-spirited women. The target consumer for Tender Intense is someone who is feminine, pretty and a girly-girl but at the same time, she emerges as a powerful woman who has her own opinions, a career-girl and so much more. This idea resonated with me on so many levels that I was already convinced to go for it. But wait, there is one more reason left. Hop to the next step.
Step 4: Look out for beautiful packaging
Okay, so we are at the last point, but it is not the least one. It is said that good packaging or gift-wrapping influences the recipient to a great extent. After all, first impressions do matter. If a product looks beautiful, then definitely the recipient will have a favorable attitude towards it and the chances of liking that product is sky-high. So, if you think that the product is not nicely packaged, then you can wrap it in a beautiful paper any time. It will solve the purpose.
Tender Intense comes in a beautifully designed gift box by Payal Singhal and that certainly makes Tender Intense, Couture Edition one of the perfect gifting ideas this festival season. All Good Scents and Designer Payal Singhal, both have this same philosophy of being Indian, modern, contemporary and young. You can see that in the packaging. Now, the packaging also resonates well with the overall idea of Tender Intense. How? Well, the pale pink represents the delicate and feminine aspect, which is Tender, while the bold graphic leans more towards the strong and free-spirited facet which is Intense. Additionally, it comes in a gift box and hence the hassle of gift-wrapping is saved.
I hope, I inspired you to be thoughtful this festive season and take some time out for making your family and friends feel special. Life is too short to behave like robots. Love and compassion are what makes us human. If we can’t be a little more considerate towards the wishes of our loved ones, then my friend, you are living your life all wrong. No offense intended. Now. if you are still confused about the gifting options to consider and this is your first time, then go ahead and gift Tender Intense, Couture Edition. You can buy it from All Good Scents website, Amazon and Flipkart. It is priced at 1400 INR for 50 ml.
