Top Indo Western fashion trends to look out for this year

10 November, 2020

With the Go Vocal for Local culture taking the Indian market by storm, we are watching so many influencers and celebrities diving into the Indo Western fashion trends. We are supporting the local artisans and embracing our ethnicity more than ever now. This shift and interest in Indian clothes and accessories have deeply impacted our styling preferences. Our love for all things Indian is quite evident in what we are wearing now. Gone are the days, when everyone was going gaga over fast fashion western wear outfits. Now, it's all about supporting our own community of talented and skilled artisans and showing the world our style statements that have an ethnic vibe to it. But this does not mean that we are going to boycott all foreign brands or throw away our entire closet of western wear. All I am saying is to transform your wardrobe and embrace the Indo Western fashion trends. Keep reading to know how you can incorporate your western wear with ethnic pieces and create the perfect Indo Western wardrobe.

Styling a Formal Blazer

Though this year, we are working from home and most of you will think that styling a formal blazer in the Indo-Western way is just overrated. Well, let me tell you that Indo-Western blazer styling can bring in a whole festive mood in your video calls and virtual Diwali parties. All you have to do is pair the blazer with flared formal pants and wrap an ethnic belt over your blazer. Throw in a classy and statement ethnic necklace and earrings, an embroidered clutch, a bracelet, a ring, and nude heels. Don’t forget to dab in some smokey makeup and a bun for that polished formal ethnic look.

Styling a Sweatshirt

Indo Western styling of a sweatshirt can seem like a daunting task at first. But wait for the time when it is styled with a wrap skirt of almost the same tie and dye print that it started to look like an Indo Western style dress. If not that, at the least a coordinated set. Tie & Dye has been as old as time. The early work of Tie & Dye has started in Rajasthan and Gujarat in the form of Bandhani print. With that being said, the whole look is already embracing one of the oldest techniques in the history of Indian fashion. To top it off, wear elegant dangler earrings, get an embroidered clutch and braided flats.

Styling a Lace Up Top

Lace up tops are the new rage and styling it the Indo Western way is probably the easiest. Just wear your top as a blouse and use the lace ties to secure your saree pallu. Effortless, chic, elegant, and comfortable. To take the look a notch up, wear a ruffle saree and watch the basic tee turn into haute couture. Make sure to accessorize well with dainty gold earrings, a golden studded statement round clutch, and braided flats. Curly loose hair and smokey makeup make it even better.

Styling a Formal Skirt

We all have a formal skirt in our closet but we don’t know what to wear with it other than our formal tops. Well, let's add some Indian elements to our basic formal attire. Wear a basic top with your skirt and layer it up with a shrug having Indian prints. Accessories do play a vital role, so make sure to add in a long Banjara necklace with matching earrings, a silver oxidised ring, a silver clutch, and perspex heels. The shrug along with statement Banjara jewelry takes the Indo Western skirt styling to a whole new level.

Styling a Twist Pullover

A twist pullover can easily be styled into a crop top that can be paired with sarees, skirts, lehengas and so much more. But it would be interesting to style the twist pullover with a palazzo with ethnic prints. Pairing the twist pullover with ikat print palazzos and then matching the vibe with accessories having earthy tones make one powerful Indo-Western outfit. The beige bag, beige heels, mirror-work choker with matching earrings complement each other and make the whole look cute as a button.

Styling a Basic Top

Our wardrobe is stocked with basic tops that we wear every day. This festive season, make sure to style your basic top the right way by pairing it with a floral lehenga skirt. Next, you have to accessorize with a circle silver oxidized ring, circle statement earrings, and a vibrant printed traditional clutch. Throw in a pair of flats with a similar shade as the basic top and you are good to go. Keep the hair loose for that carefree vibe.

Styling a Bodycon Dress

Styling a ruched bodycon dress in Indo Western style is not a piece of the cake definitely. Throwing too many elements can break the look as easy as leaving elements out of it. For this, the best way is to accessorize with classy traditional jewelry. Keep the styling minimal by restricting it to minimal classy jewelry like a choker necklace, small earrings, traditional clutch, and perspex heels. This will give an ethnic vibe without going too overboard. Always trust in your accessorizing skills. With the right accessories, you can switch a basic outfit into multiple looks that can make heads turn.
